El33tonline writes:
"Although the third in the Lost Planet series, Lost Planet 3 is actually a prequel to the previous two instalments. Jim Peyton is the games new protagonist, a Utility Rig pilot who journeys to E.D.N. I.I.I. on behalf of NEVEC to harvest Thermal Energy, the planets natural energy source."

A prequel to the Lost Planet series, Lost Planet 3 returns players to the subzero planet and colony of E.D.N. III and will no doubt reveal hidden truths within the unpredictable and harsh environments.

A new game from Capcom that probably noone was expecting but that turns out to be fairly good. It may not be the best sci fi game one could ever experience, but it's not a bad adventure at all.

The Black Panel writes: Lost Planet 3 is without a doubt the best entry in the series, though to be honest, that isnt a huge achievement. The game features an interesting story and some great set piece battles but is held back by generic third person shooter conventions, an excessive number of quiet moments and some boring side quests. This can be a fun game at times, but in the year of the mediocre shooter, it really just another one for the pile.

The Lost Planet series started back in 2006 with a sequel released in 2010 before the third game was released just last month. The best way to describe the series is a mix between Avatar and Starship Troopers. Earth is no longer livable due to pollution, chemical warfare, low resources, global warming, and whatever else that could be going wrong. Luckily, another planet exists titled E.D.N III that is inhabitable with a double bonus of also containing precious resources. Very much like Avatar. Not so lucky, there are very hostile bugs and creatures called Akrid that live on this worldthis is where Starship Troopers comes into play. The game has a sound premise, what could possibly go wrong? Trust NGN, a lot goes wrong.

Travis Northup: "Lost Planet 3 does not provide an experience worthy of the asking price, but I would recommend picking it up in a few months when it costs half of what it does now. If anything, Lost Planet 3 shows that the series has had a rough run, and while it has made some improvements, it continues to fall short of the potential that fans know it has."

One Hit Pixel: "Its not every day that a franchise uses the next main-numbered instalment to perform a do-over, but this is exactly what the latest in Capcoms Lost Planet series is attempting. Handed to new developers in the form of Spark Unlimited and being a prequel to the other Lost Planet games, it is best to come into Lost Planet 3 with an open mind. But does this studios new take on the franchise get a frosty reception?"

CDW:Rather than continue down the winding path of the previous two games, Capcom have decided to focus much tently upon portraying a more realised narrative. Will this new step be in the right direction or stagger helplessly against the frozen winds of the tundra?
